Co-Founder
Jared Decoteau
Co-founder of Fortress Family Law, 2026.
Background
Jared Decoteau co-founded Fortress Family Law in 2026 after several years in leadership at CNL Law Firm, where he served as managing attorney and director of client development. He has been selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list every year from 2022 through 2025, a peer-reviewed honor extended to a small fraction of Colorado attorneys.
His road to family law ran through humanitarian work. Before Colorado, Jared served as legal advisor to a nongovernmental organization supporting communities affected by the Syrian conflict and worked with the United Nations in Aleppo assisting Iraqi refugees. That experience shaped how he practices: steady in crisis, direct about options, and focused on protecting people first.
Jared earned his law degree from American University Washington College of Law in 2013 and his undergraduate degree from Florida State University. He was admitted to the Colorado bar in 2015 and to the United States District Court for the District of Colorado in 2018. His practice is devoted entirely to family law: dissolution of marriage, allocation of parental responsibilities, and support.
Outside the courtroom he gives his time to the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, the Colorado Lawyers Committee, and Metro Volunteer Lawyers, and he is a member of the family law sections of the Colorado and Denver bar associations.
