Background

Jason Brewer joined Fortress Family Law in 2026, bringing a quarter century of Colorado courtroom experience to the firm. He was most recently a senior attorney at CNL Law Firm, and his career spans some of the state’s most established family law practices.

Jason began as a deputy district attorney in Colorado’s Sixth Judicial District in Durango, where he learned trial work the way it is best learned: on his feet. Since entering private practice he has centered his work on divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, and child support, with earlier experience in transactional real estate that still serves clients untangling property.

A graduate of the University of Wyoming College of Law and Western Kentucky University, Jason was raised in rural Kentucky and began his Colorado career serving the San Luis Valley. That background shows in how he practices: plain talk, hard preparation, and respect for what a case costs a family.

Before joining the founding team at Fortress, Jason took a fourteen month sabbatical traveling through twenty-four countries, returning to Colorado in 2024. He is equally at home in hard fought litigation and in talking a case down to a sensible resolution.
